The Avett Brother’s Tribute Mural
For the past year, we’ve been working on installing a tribute mural to beloved local band The Avett Brothers.
This project started with the owner of 22 Union St. approaching Cicada Studios about installing a mural on the side of their building. It was a dream project because they left the content of the mural completely open-ended. The wall in question is located at one of the main “entrance points” to downtown Concord, so it seemed fitting to pay tribute to the Avett Brothers. In this way this piece of art would do more than just be visually appealing, it would be adding something of true value to many Concordians who dearly love the Avett Brother’s music.
As time passed we went through many drafts of the mural and a location change to 25 Union Street. This wall is directly across the street from the original location at 22 Union.
While we were figuring out the location of the mural and finishing the mural artwork we were also putting together a fundraising event for the project called the Cicada Craft Beer & Whiskey Festival. The festival was held on September 28th at Southern Strain Brewing Company in downtown Concord.
We missed our goal of installing the mural in the Fall of 2019 and our new goal is to have the mural installed in the spring of 2020. You can help support this project by contributing to our GoFundMe here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tribute-mural-to-the-avett-brothers.
