Cicada Scholars 2021
Cicada Studios is excited to introduce Cicada Scholars, a new scholarship supporting high school Seniors in the Visual Arts.
How To Enter:
Applicants must be high school senior art students located in Cabarrus County.
Email a photograph of an original 2D or 3D art piece to: info@cicadastudios.net with the subject line “2021 Cicada Scholars Entry | First Name Last Name”
In the body of the email include a brief description of the work including its size and medium. Additionally, the artist should include a description of their process for creating the work, their inspiration, and whether they plan to pursue the arts in the future. Lastly, complete and attach the student application / release form, linked here:

2D and 3D art submissions are considered to fit within one of these general categories:
Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
Collages
Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
Mixed Media - use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
Computer-generated art
Photography
Sculpture - ceramics, metal, paper, etc. (1- 3 photographs may be submitted for sculpture work)
Entries violating copyright will not be considered.
Judging:
Entries will be judged by a panel of professional artists.
There will be four winners: 1st Place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and an Honorable Mention.
1st place will receive $500. 2nd place will receive $250. 3rd place will receive $100.
Winners will be announced via e-mail and Cicada Studios social media on May 16th, 2022.
The competition is now open. Entries must be received by 11:59 on April 28th, 2022.
